About me

I’m Nicolette. A curator of atmosphere. A mother. A writer. 

I write as Nicolette Shirley – a name that has become my identity, brand and my signature.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to places that carry soul.

My path led me through interior design, but I was always drawn less to structure,
and more to atmosphere, to what a space makes you feel.

I was born in Slovakia, and although life has taken me to different places, I have always considered it my home. I’m the mother of a grown daughter who is my closest soul and has taught me more than any teacher ever could. She is my daily source of love, admiration, and inspiration.

I spend time at a ranch in the mountains – not my home, but the home of my horse and a space that brings me back to myself and fills me. I dream of building a tiny house in the forest, a dream that is slowly becoming a project.

One summer evening – on my birthday – I sat on my wooden terrace with a cup of ceremonial cacao and a leather journal in my hands, its handmade paper scented with lavender. Hair loose, white top, jeans. When I feel like myself. Present. In silence. Whole.

It was that evening when everything I create was born.
